Barcelona, on Monday, held a ceremony marking their departure from Camp Nou for the time being. The stadium will be renovated and the first team will play their games at Estadio OlÃmpic LluÃs Companys in Montjuïc until at least November 2024.
The men’s team played their last game at the stadium this past weekend, and will play the subsequent two seasons at the Olympic Stadium.
At the ceremony, club president Joan Laporta, captain Sergio Busquets, first team manager Xavi, Melanie Serrano and academy players Jana Muro and Guiu Xuclà were present. The first bricks of the renovated stadium were laid down, alongside a time capsule buried in a small patch near the edge of the pitch.

The move from their home stadium will see matchday revenue drop for the club until the time renovation is completed. And it will be interesting to see whether the management can deal with the lack of ticket revenue amidst their financial woes right now.
Club legends Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets said their goodbyes to the club this past Sunday when the team played at Camp Nou for the last time.
The Blaugrana will play as the champions of Spain next season, and could have the return to Lionel Messi to back them up further. However, it is dependent on whether they can comply with La Liga FFP rules to register new players, and new contracts for their existing players.
