David De Gea has won the 2022/23 Premier League Golden Glove award for keeping the most clean sheets. The Manchester United number 1 has won the award outright with his 17th clean sheet of the season in United’s 1-0 win over Brighton.
This is only the second time that De Gea has won the Golden Glove during his time in the Premier League. The last time he achieved the feat was in 2017/18 when he kept 18 clean sheets.

“Myself and the team did really well [this term],” David De Gea told the club’s official website after the win over Bournemouth. “Especially in the defensive side, I think we’ve been really solid the whole season.”
“I think I’ve played good the whole season and helping the team as much as I can, keeping some good clean sheets.
“You know when you keep clean sheets we are more close to winning games.
“Today [against Bournemouth], we kept another one, a massive three points, and closer to finishing in the top four so that is very good for us.”
The Spaniard has been criticised for his errors and inconsistency this season. But the numbers speak for themselves, as he has kept more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in the league. The club is expected to hold talks regarding a contract extension with their number 1 soon, amidst an air of uncertainty over his future.
