Feyenoord won only their second Eredivisie title of the 21st century after defeating Go Ahead Eagles 3-0. With the win, their unbeaten streak has been extended to 24 league games, which is the longest in Europe’s top seven leagues.

Only Manchester City are close to them, with 14 unbeaten games as they close in on the Premier League title. The only blemish for the new Eredivisie champions is their Europa League exit against Roma. However, Feyenoord have managed to avoid defeat since September 2022, and end their rivals Ajax’s hold on the league title.

Feyenoord win Eredivisie league title with 24 games unbeaten

Oussama Idrissi and Santiago Gimenez opened the scoring early for the hosts, while Igor Paixao netted in the second half to seal all three points.

Celebrations began in Rotterdam as the team lifted their first league title since 2017, and their 16th overall. With two games to spare, Feyenoord were able to clinch the title by fending off strong competition from PSV Eindhoven, who are second in the league.

Ajax are third, on the back of a rather disappointing season for the record champions. Moreover, their game against Groningen yesterday was called off after fireworks were thrown onto the pitch.
