Erling Haaland has broken the record for the most goals scored in a single Premier League season, with his 35th goal coming against West Ham United. Manchester City won the game 3-0, and the striker scored the second of the night in the 70th minute to claim the record all for himself.
The previous record was held by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole, both of whom scored 34 goals in a 42-game season. But in the Norwegian’s very first season in England, he has broken the legendary record set by two of the best strikers the English league has seen.
Erling Haaland breaks all-time Premier League goalscoring record
With five more games to play, he is likely to extend the record further, with 40 goals not out of reach for the City number 9. What’s even more stunning is the fact that he is only 22 years old, and is simply outstanding in spite of his age.
Alongside his 35 goals, Erling Haaland has also provided seven assists, making him the player with the most goal contributions in England by a far margin. He is also leading the race for the European Golden Boot, with 51 goals scored this season across all competitions.
The Norwegian has been incredible since joining City, and has been breaking records every single week. His contributions are on the verge of winning Pep Guardiola’s side yet another Premier League title, while also being in the hunt for a historic treble involving the FA Cup and the Champions League.
