Arsenal starlet Charlie Patino is expected to leave the club this summer in search of regular first team football. The 19-year-old spent a loan spell with Blackpool, and was impressive even though they ended up being relegated from the Championship.
He scored three goals and provide four assists in 36 games for the side, and has shown that he can perform when needed. He is not seeking another temporary move away from North London, which is the main reason behind the push for a permanent move away.
Charlie Patino to leave Arsenal this summer
“[Too much hype around him] is what we have to avoid,” Mikel Arteta said about the youngster. “He still has a lot of competition in front of him. He is really young. And he needs to go step by step. Today he was lucky, he got the opportunity and he took it really well.”
Patino signed for the Gunners in 2015 from Luton Town, and signed his first professional contract with them in 2020. The club did extend his deal until 2025, but it now seems like he won’t be staying to see it through.
The central midfielder has only made two senior appearances for Arsenal, and will be looking for a new challenge at this stage. The first team is likely to spend big to reinforce their squad, with Champions League football coming up next season. And with them being unable to guarantee Charlie Patino regular minutes in the senior line-up, he will be moving on this summer.
