Jio vs Airtel Entry-level broadband fibre plans – Everything You Need to Know

Airtel has recently launched the Xstream Fibre Broadband Lite Plan in India, priced at ₹219 per month. This plan is a response to Jio’s Backup Plan, which was introduced last month and is priced at ₹198. The Backup Plan offers one-click speed boosts, OTT benefits, and access to live TV channels.

The launch of Airtel’s new plan is likely to intensify the competition in the Indian broadband market. Both Airtel and Jio are offering competitive plans at affordable prices. This is good news for consumers, who will have more options to choose from.

Here is a table comparing the features of Airtel’s Xstream Fibre Broadband Lite Plan and Jio’s Backup Plan:

As opposed to this, the Airtel Xstream Fibre Broadband Lite package only includes a free router and a fixed speed. The recently introduced Airtel Broadband Lite plan’s full details and a comparison against Jio‘s Backup Plan are provided below.

JioFiber’s Plan

JioFiber Backup, a new broadband choice from Reliance Jio, is marketed towards customers who require a backup internet connection as well as those who live in remote locations where 24-hour connections are required. The new package offers free landline calls and unlimited data at a 10 Mbps speed to its consumers. In accordance with their needs, users will also be able to instantly activate an increase in connection speed.

For a one-day, two-day, or seven-day period, the connection speed can be increased to 30 Mbps for ₹21, ₹31, and ₹101, respectively. Users are required to pay an additional ₹32, ₹52, and ₹152 for 1 day, 2 days, and 7 days, respectively, for a connection speed of 100 Mbps. It is also possible to sign up for a five-month Backup plan, which would cost ₹1,490 overall plus ₹500 for installation.

Airtel Xstream’s Plan

In comparison to JioFiber’s Backup plan, which costs ₹21 more, Airtel Xstream’s recently launched Broadband Lite plan is the least expensive Airtel Xstream Fibre plan and costs ₹219 instead. Users who need a budget-friendly plan can now take advantage of the newly launched plan.

Even if it costs ₹219, consumers may only acquire a ₹3,101 (including GST) yearly subscription; a monthly subscription is not offered. Users of the Broadband Lite subscription will get an unrestricted broadband connection capped at 10 Mbps. Users will be able to utilize its router without making any further fees.

Overall, Airtel’s Xstream Fibre Broadband Lite Plan is a good option for users who have basic internet needs and are looking for a cost-effective option. However, if you are looking for a plan with more features, such as OTT benefits or live TV channels, Jio’s Backup Plan may be a better option.
