According to a Deadline exclusive, Sony and Amazon Prime Video are nearing a series order for a live-action show based on Marvel Comics’ 1990s Clone Saga. It would follow two Peter Parker clones: Ben Reilly, aka Scarlet Spider, a near-perfect replica, and Kaine Parker, a bigger, stronger and more violent copy. Deadline also noted the comics may receive “significant changes” on screen. Details remain murky, with conflicting reports suggesting the pair might face other clones or take on entirely new identities.

Is Peter Parker Involved?
There’s no word yet on whether the original wall-crawler appears. Since both leads are clones, one actor might play both. Andy Samberg already voices Ben Reilly in the animated Spider-Verse films and will return in the 2027 threequel. The series is written by American Born Chinese creator Kelvin Yu.
Why Sony Is Doubling Down
This follows the cancellation of Spider-Noir, Nicolas Cage’s live-action series, at Amazon Prime Video over viewership struggles. Even so, Sony reportedly has four Spider-Man TV projects in the works, and Prime Video may pursue one or two of them. Meanwhile, the studio has ended its Spider-Man Universe of villain spin-offs, focusing instead on this refined slate.
The 12 Projects So Far
The Clone Saga show would be the 12th entry in Sony’s modern Spider-Verse. The list includes Homecoming, Into the Spider-Verse, Far From Home, No Way Home, Across the Spider-Verse, Brand New Day, Spider-Noir and Beyond the Spider-Verse, plus three untitled animated spin-offs starring Spider-Punk, Spider-Gwen and Venom. Brand New Day recently earned about $2.5 billion worldwide, while Beyond the Spider-Verse is due June 18, 2027.
