Liverpool held Arsenal to a thrilling 2-2 draw at Anfield to open up the title race once again. The hosts were 2-0 down, but were able to overturn the deficit to salvage a point.
Here are the key talking points from the game.
Liverpool deny Arsenal Anfield win with late Firmino header
Game of Two Halves
Liverpool looked completely outplayed in the first half, as their defence was continuously unlocked by Arsenal. Gabriel Martinelli scored the opening goal before setting up Gabriel Jesus for a headed effort.
The Merseyside club came out of the tunnel a completely different side, and were able to find the equalising goal late in the game after an impressive performance.
Salah’s penalty miss
The Egyptian hit his penalty wide after Callum Chambers conceded a rather soft spot kick. Had he converted the effort, it could have been three points for Liverpool and none for Arsenal to put further pressure on them.
Ramsdale rises to the occasion
The Arsenal number one rose to the occasion and made some exceptional saves right up until the end. He denied Ibrahima Konate from point blank range, before diving to save Salah’s deflected effort. And earlier in the game, he denied Darwin Nunez from a 1v1 situation as well. If there’s someone that the Gunners need to thank for their point, it’s their goalkeeper, who was simply sensational.
