Luke Shaw renews contract with Manchester United until 2027
While naturally a left-back, Erik Ten Hag has often decided to use Luke Shaw as a centre-back to great effect. The defender has made 249 appearances since 2014, and will have spent a decade as a United player by next year.
Injuries held him back during the initial stages of his time with the Red Devils. However, he has now become a dependable option for the club and has also made the England national team consistently.
After renewing Shaw’s contract, United’s priority is to extend David De Gea’s contract. The goalkeeper’s deal runs out in the summer since the one year extension clause was not triggered in his deal. He is one of the highest earners at the club, and the board wants him to renew on lower wages.
Marcus Rashford and Diogo Dalot are the two other players that are the priorities for the club in terms of contract renewals.
