Chelsea have officially parted ways with Graham Potter after seven months in charge. The decision has been confirmed by the club in an official statement, following their 2-0 loss against Aston Villa over the weekend.

Bruno Saltor is expected to take charge of the club as the interim head coach, and his first game will be against Liverpool tomorrow.

Here is what the official statement released by the club read:

Club statement.

— Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) April 2, 2023

“Chelsea FC has announced that Graham Potter has departed the club. Graham has agreed to collaborate with the Club to facilitate a smooth transition. In his time with the club, Graham has taken us to the quarter final of the Champions League, where we will face Real Madrid. Chelsea would like to thank Graham for all his efforts and contribution and wish him well for the future.”

Taking over from Thomas Tuchel, things were going smoothly for Potter until they couldn’t find the back of the net. And slowly, the losing streak started as the team came up short in matches they should have won.

After months of protests from fans, the board has finally decided to sack Potter and look for another manager to solve their problems on the pitch.

Former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann has already been approached for the job. He is considered the favourite for the role considering his history of developing young players. However, internal discussions are continuing over the best option to take over.

Mauricio Pochettino, Ruben Amorim and Luis Enrique are among the other names being discussed. However, Nagelsmann remains the favourite to replace Potter as things stand.
