Google, the largest search engine in the world, is honoring the Persian New Year Nowruz by featuring a floral doodle that embodies the festival’s concept through spring flowers like tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, and bee orchids. The doodle’s colorful flowers, which represent the coming of spring and fresh starts, are full of life.

When the winter ends and the northern hemisphere starts to thaw, it’s time to celebrate Nowruz, Google said in a post that gave users a sneak peek of today’s doodle. This historic celebration of the start of spring is highlighted in today’s Doodle.

Google also released information about the history and significance of the holiday as part of the Navroz 2023 doodle, stating, “In many cultures, Nowruz also represents the beginning of a new year – a time to reflect on the past, establish intentions for the future, and improve relationships with loved ones. Common customs include decorating eggs to celebrate new life, cleaning your house to be ready for a new beginning, and enjoying springtime produce and herbs.

Despite being mostly identified with the Parsi community, Novruz or Navroz is a holiday that is observed throughout the Black Sea Basin, the South Caucasus, the Middle East, and Northern, Western, Central, and South Asia. The first day of the Iranian calendar and the start of the Persian New Year is Novruz. The spring equinox, which occurs on March 21 or 22, is traditionally the day when the event is celebrated.

The Persian word Navroz, which literally means “new day,” derives from the phrases “Nav” and “Roz,” both of which signify new. In the last 3,000 years, Zoroastrians and Iranians have been the main sources of Navroz’s history. Many rituals and practices are observed to mark this occasion, which is revered as a time of renewal and rebirth. The Google Doodle, which appears on the search engine’s homepage, is a unique and transient modification of the Google logo. It has emerged as one of the most well-liked methods for commemorating a variety of occasions, including festivals, holidays, and the birthdays of well-known people, among others.
