Apple A17 Bionic Prototype performance numbers leaks out

The first performance figures for the A17 Bionic prototype are in, and while we previously reported that Apple would prioritise battery life over raw performance, these figures have definitely surprised us. Max Tech shared the single-core and multi-core scores on YouTube, claiming that they were shared by someone named Sugunan on Twitter.

The scores appear to be legitimate, according to the YouTuber, and represent Apple’s best efforts to create the most powerful SoC ever found on a mobile device. Customers will have to pay more money, however, because the commercial version of the A17 Bionic will only be found in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, according to our previous report.

The A16 Bionic processor will be used in the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. In terms of scores, the prototype version of the A17 Bionic achieves single-core and multi-core scores of 3,986 and 8,841, respectively. These figures show that the iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max will outperform a MacBook, which is incredible.

The prototype version of the A17 Bionic is 43 percent faster than the A16 Bionic, and the upcoming chipset is 59 percent faster in the single-core test.

What we know is that the A17 Bionic will most likely have a 6-core CPU, with two of them dedicated to performance and four dedicated to power efficiency. Unfortunately, we do not know the number of GPU cores, but we believe it will have five of them to deliver unrivalled performance compared to the competition. Hopefully, we will learn more about the battery life of this A17 Bionic SoC in the future.
