Toni Kroos made his 400th Real Madrid appearance last night as Real Madrid defeated Espanyol 4-1. The German midfielder marked the occasion by setting up Vinicius Jr for the opening goal of the game.
While Kroos is no doubt one of the best to ever play for the Spanish giants, he became the sixth foreign player to make 400+ appearances. Let’s take a look at the other players to achieve this feat:
Real Madrid’s foreign players with the most appearances
5. Cristiano Ronaldo – 438
The iconic number 7 starts off the list with 438 appearances after signing from Manchester United. It is crazy to think that Ronaldo became Real Madrid’s top scorer in 438 games, averaging almost a goal a game.
4. Luka Modric – 471
Modric is one of the two currently active players on the list. Despite being close to 40 years old, he is showing no signs of slowing down and could sign a new contract with the club soon.
3. Roberto Carlos – 527
Roberto Carlos is regarded as one of the best left-backs in history, and is an undisputed Real Madrid legend. As part of the Galacticos, he went on to make 527 appearances for the club.
2. Marcelo – 546
Marcelo became the rightful heir to Roberto Carlos before establishing his own legacy. In 546 games, he became the most decorated Real Madrid player in history by winning 25 trophies before leaving last summer.
1. Karim Benzema – 632
Benzema is the only other active player on the list alongside Luka Modric, and is Real Madrid’s foreign player with the most appearances. During this time, he has emerged as one of their talismanic figures and won the 2022 Ballon d’Or as well.
