Android 14 Developer Preview 2 is out with new Features

Google has decided to begin rolling out Android 14 Developer Preview 2, and the new update, as expected, brings several new changes. We expect beta versions to begin rolling out next month or in May, but for now, we have the latest developer preview, which includes several new changes for developers.

For those who are curious about the new Android 14 Developer Preview 2, Google is still working on privacy and security. With the new Android versions, users can ensure that apps only access the photos and videos they have permission to access. Users can choose to grant access to all photos and videos, specific photos and videos, or none at all.

In Android 14 Developer Preview 2, Google has also decided to make Credential Manager a platform API.

Google’s goal with this change is to make sign-in easier for users. Furthermore, Android 14 Developer Preview 2 improves overall performance and makes system-wide changes to how the operating system works. For example, one optimization will turn off all app activity when the app is put in the background. The user can now dismiss non-system notifications as well.

Google, as expected, has made numerous changes throughout the entire operating system. For example, app stores are improving their overall user experience. For example, if you use a non-Google app store, you no longer need to rely on Google Play. If an app is updated in another app store, it will be updated in the same store.
