Detective Pikachu is one of the upcoming sequels that has finally been cracked. The new reports have confirmed the sequel to Pokémon Detective Pikachu. This is an active development at Legendary Entertainment.
Detective Pikachu: The Magnificent is back to work
Jonathan Krisel is the co-creator of the IFC sketch comedy series Portlandia and the FX series Baskets, is likely to take over for original director Rob Letterman, while Chris Galletta has performed the script duties. This is still not clear whether Ryan Reynolds would return to voice Pikachu, the ending of Detective Pikachu has raised questions that would be possible.
In this, the first Detective Pikachu movie was adapted from the game 3DS game of the same name. The film has Ryan Reynolds as a sarcastic coffee-drinking and crime-solving Pikachu. This flick arguably became the first of a wave of actually-pretty-decent video game movies, Sonic the Hedgehog and The Super Mario Bros. The game has racked up over $430 million at the box office. This seems to be enough to make it profitable. We’ve heard a little about a sequel. The film features Justice Smith indicating that probably wasn’t going to happen.
Detective Pikachu 2 may be somewhat of a fresh start for the franchise, as Legendary is reportedly eying Jonathan Krisel to direct. This is replacing the original director Rob Letterman. Meanwhile, the film screenplay has reportedly been handled by former Letterman writer Chris Galletta. It has been replaced through a five-person committee that contributed to the first movie’s script.
Before premiering Detective Pikachu Legendary hired writer Oren Uziel, who had scripted 22 Jump Street. You will get a draft of Sonic the Hedgehog, for working on a sequel to the movie. Recently, Uziel told Polygon that though he wrote an outline and screenplay for the movie, he was no longer involved with the film. Krisel and Galletta have been working off Uziel’s draft or starting fresh for now.
