Casemiro was named the man of the match in Manchester United‘s Carabao Cup win over Newcastle United. The defensive midfielder scored the first goal in the final, and helped his side keep a clean sheet against the Magpies to lift the trophy.
In his final game with Real Madrid, which was the Champions League final against Liverpool, he was also named the man of the match. Moreover, he ended up winning the Champions League for a fifth time before making the move to England over the summer.
Casemiro brings the winning mentality to Manchester United
The 31-year-old has been very influential for the club since joining them this year. It took him a couple of games to get used to the new surroundings. But once he did, he brought Real Madrid’s winning mentality to the club and has helped transform them back into the elite team they once were.
Casemiro has won all but one final in his entire career, and has helped end Manchester United’s six-year wait for a trophy in his very first season with them. Not only has he helped out the team defensively, but he has also scored five goals across all competitions and provided the same number of assists too.
Alongside his former Real Madrid teammate, Raphael Varane, Erik Ten Hag’s urge for a better mentality has been realised at the club. The team looks much more stable in midfield, and is able to get the wins, which are now translating into trophies.
Casemiro still has three to four years to give at the top level at the very least, and could prove to be a vital part in the Red Devils’ resurgence over the next few years.
