Alvaro Rodriguez provided an assist on his La Liga debut with Real Madrid, within minutes of coming off the bench. The youngster came on for Rodrygo in the 87th minute, and he was able to square the ball to Marco Asensio as he finished the game off by making it 2-0 in the final minutes of play.
The 18-year-old has been quite impressive for Real Madrid’s Castilla team and has now earned a place with the senior team. However, there is a chance he could still play with the youth team to get regular minutes on the pitch.
Alvaro Rodriguez was praised by Carlo Ancelotti for an assist on their debut
“He has a lot of quality. He’s tall, controls the ball well and can header it too. He can help us, just like he helped us tonight. It’s not easy for a young player to come on and make a first-team debut. He provided two assists, to Vinícius and to Asensio. I’m convinced he’ll help us over the rest of the season.
We have to evaluate with Raúl if he spends more time with us. He could even play for Castilla tomorrow. Maybe not the whole game, but he could play,” Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti said about the youngster.
Standing tall at 193cm, Alvaro Rodriguez presents Real Madrid with a profile that they don’t have in the squad. He is very good in the air and could be trusted to replace Karim Benzema as he recovers from yet another injury this season.
