Kendry Paez of Ecuador might be a name you’ll be hearing more of very soon. The teenage midfielder has attracted interest from European giants like Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Bayer Leverkusen and Real Madrid recently.
Moreover, there have been rumours that a £14.8 million bid has already been rejected by Independiente del Valle. And the money needed to persuade them to sell will likely be around that mark.
Who is Kendry Paez and why are the big clubs after him?
The 15-year-old plays as a left-footed midfielder and is very highly rated by his club. And by the looks of things, other clubs have already registered their interest in signing him very soon. He has been recently promoted to the first team and is expected to make the squad for the 2023 season of Ecuador’s Serie A.
In 2022, Kendry Paez was named the Player of the Tournament in the Next Generation Trophy. He has also earned a call-up to Ecuador’s under-17 team, and has had three goal contributions in three games so far.
The midfielder has scored 39 goals in 106 games between 2018 and 2022, and has featured across Independiente’s youth teams for the last few years. He fits Chelsea’s transfer philosophy of having the best project by 2030, and could join several prolific young players to have made the switch to SW6 since Todd Boehly’s takeover.
