The two major young prospects of Barcelona have been injured and here are some news updates about both of them:
Frenkie de Jong is back
Frenkie already joined Barca team training last week and was not being hurried to get him off the pitch. Having given some time to settle in Setien calls him back to the squad against the match against Osasuna.
The LaLiga title race is almost over for Barcelona with Real Madrid’s last win but their Champions League dream is still active. So to bring the team back and build some confidence for the vital clash against Napoli, Setein needs his players to perform well in the last two matches.
Also, this will be helpful for de Jong who got injured in the first match after lockdown against Mallorca and has been off the pitch for almost over a month now. Being shown the green light from the medical team, de Jong will be used either as a starter or a substitute in the upcoming match against Osasuna in the Camp Nou.
Ousmane Dembele is looking good
The Frenchman has had an injury-stricken campaign, yet again, and finally, due to the long lockdown, he seems to be getting fit again at the right time when his team need him. Dembele worked hard at the Ciutat Esportiva and trained alone as part of his recovery from a torn hamstring.
He was supposed to be out for almost six months in February but after his latest surgery, he seems to be working hard to return. FC Barcelona’s blog post said:
This seems hopeful as because he is already back into individual training and we can hope that within few weeks he can be allowed to train with the squad. So hopefully, Dembele can be back to support his team in the crucial stages of the Champions League and we can hope Quique Setien will give more updates about the Frenchman’s recovery in particular.
