Prithvi Shaw who has been playing for Mumbai in Ranji Trophy scored 379 runs against Assam to become the highest individual run scorer for his team. Bhausaheb Nimbalkar is the highest scorer in the tournament with an unbeaten run of 443. He had a partnership of 123 runs with Musheer Khan, 42 runs with Armaan Jaffer, and 262 runs with Ajinkya Rahane.
On Day 1, Prithvi Shaw scored an unbeaten 240 runs off 283 balls, hitting 33 fours and a six. With this, Mumbai reached 397 runs. He’s the first-class cricketer in almost nine decades to score this highest individual score after Bhausaheb Nibalkar’s 443 for Maharashtra. His score came against Kathiawar in 1948-49.
He has been scoring a lot of runs for domestic cricket, sadly he has not been a part of the Indian team squad since July 2021.
Gautam Gambhir who was a former Indian cricketer requested the coaches and selectors to give him a place in the squad. Prithvi Shaw also scored good runs in every format of Indian cricket but still didn’t get good opportunities in the Indian national team.
The selectors are very confused to give him an opportunity in the cricket team as a lot of players are lined up already. Players like Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Shubman Gill are in the queue for the Test format.
Even after playing to the best of his potential, he has not been getting the best of opportunities to play for the Indian cricket team. He often posts cryptic stories on his Instagram stories for not getting selected for the national team. In a recent interview, he opened up by saying that it “hurts” him but he learned to not be bothered by it.
In the 2021-22 Ranji Trophy, he led Mumbai to the finale but still got defeated by Madhya Pradesh.
