Manchester United have reached an agreement with Burnley to sign Wout Weghorst.
However, a key step in the deal remains Besiktas being convinced to part ways with the player. And they will only do so if they can find a replacement for him in the coming days. The loan deal for him runs until the end of the season, and there is no option to recall him included.
As a result, Besiktas will be entitled to a payment of €3 million in order to terminate the loan deal early. But they must find a suitable replacement for him in order to approve of the deal.
Wout Weghorst transfer update: Besiktas approval still pending
Should the transfer go through, it would be a loan deal from Burnley. As of yet, a permanent deal isn’t being explored by the two clubs. But if he performs well, there could be an option for a long-term deal on the table.
The former Wolfsburg striker found it hard to perform in England with Burnley, and has been doing well in Turkey during his loan spell. The Dutchman has scored eight goals and provided four assists in 16 Turkish Super Lig games this season.
His tall figure will provide a significant boost for the team in terms of having a target man in the box. And since Erik Ten Hag wanted the player personally, it will be interesting to see how his time at Manchester United plays out if the deal goes through.
All the parties involved in the Wout Weghorst deal are confident of it being wrapped up soon. And Besiktas are key to the player getting the move that he wants.
