Liverpool have made a formal offer for Moises Caicedo of Brighton and Hove Albion. The Reds are in the market for a new midfielder, with Arthur Melo out injured for the coming weeks.
The Seagulls value their player at around €70 million, but Jurgen Klopp’s side want to wrap up the deal for less than that amount. Their first offer has been turned down, and they are now expected to try once again to get their man during the January transfer window.
Moises Caicedo a transfer target for Liverpool in January
The Ecuador international made the move to the Amex Stadium in January 2021, before moving out on loan to Beerschot in Belgium in the summer. He returned in January of this year, and has since been an important part of the first team. Now, he could make the next step to a Champions League team, which is expected to be Liverpool.
James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all expected to leave the club at the end of the season. And as a replacement for these players, Moises Caicedo is expected to be a long-term prospect for the team.
Liverpool is the only club that has made a concrete offer for the 21-year-old. Arsenal, Newcastle United and Chelsea are the other three clubs keeping tabs on the situation, but they have not made any formal offer yet. Now, it remains to be seen whether the Merseyside club will have their second signing of the January window, after Cody Gakpo.
