Following Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit from Manchester United, the Premier League giants could sign a striker in the January transfer window. Erik Ten Hag has commented that the club will try to sign a forward player in the coming transfer window – provided the right one is available.
They only have Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial as the two first team players who can play up front. The Frenchman has struggled with fitness, but has delivered when called upon. Moreover, Rashford has been playing consistently well out wide. And a change in position could end that good run.
Manchester United could sign a new striker in January
“Yes [I feel United need to bring in a forward], but only when we find the right players. We do everything in our power. We are doing research on every opportunity and we do everything we can if that opportunity is there to contact them,” Erik Ten Hag said about their potential business.
Cody Gakpo has been one of the names strongly linked with the Red Devils. He remains keen on a switch to Old Trafford, but Erik Ten Hag did not give a concrete answer when asked about the Dutchman.
With Joao Felix expected to leave Atletico Madrid soon, the Portuguese could make his way to England. He can play as a centre-forward, and could be a great addition to the young new team under Erik Ten Hag.
However, a deal for him won’t be cheap. Regardless of the target, Manchester United will need to evaluate their options very carefully and sign a player that fits their system instead of accumulating more deadwood in the squad.
