Lionel Messi has returned back to his best this season, achieving double digits in goals and assists. He was the man running the show in PSG’s win against Troyes, scoring a goal and providing an assist as the league leaders won 4-3.
Following the game, Messi has scored seven goals and provided ten assists in Ligue 1. And he has managed to achieve this feat in only twelve league games, which is a new record – even lesser than it took him to achieve the feat at Barcelona.
The least number of games that it took Messi to achieve ten league assists prior to 22/23 was 14 games in 2010/11 and 2018/19.
Lionel Messi breaks personal record with 10th assist of the season
The Argentine has been outstanding since the start of the season, and became the first player to score and assist ten goals across all competitions, in Europe’s top five leagues this season.
It is safe to say that he is back among the best in the world in terms of current form – and this is great news for the Argentina national team heading into the World Cup.
This will be the seven-time Ballon d’Or award winner’s last time at a World Cup, and his country is among the favourites to win this time around – especially given the form Lionel Messi is showing right now.
