Romelu Lukaku has struggled for fitness on his return to Inter Milan this season. The striker is currently recovering from a muscle injury, which has prevented him from playing during the last few weeks.

This gave rise to rumours that the Nerazzurri were planning to cut short his loan deal in January. However, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that he will be completing the season with Inter Milan before a decision is made on his future.

Romelu Lukaku to potentially stay on loan for one more season

Lukaku will not only stay with the Serie A club until the end of the season, but could also continue beyond 2023. Talks of a permanent deal between Chelsea and Inter Milan have not progressed as of yet.

But there is a feeling that he could spend another season on loan in Italy. The final decision about the player’s future will be made in 2023, at the end of the ongoing season.

This season, Romelu Lukaku has made only three appearances since returning to Italy on a loan deal. Chelsea’s new manager Graham Potter has suggested that he could try and convince the Belgian to return to Stamford Bridge next season. But considering how unpopular he now is among the fans, and his poor performances in the Premier League, that could be impossible.
