According to fresh leaks, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will supposedly receive campaign DLC and a map pack in late 2023. TheGhostofHope reports that Treyarch’s funds for their upcoming Call of Duty instalment, which will have a two-year lifetime, have also been approved.
This suggests that the series might go to a two-year cycle moving ahead rather than only with this year’s instalment, as had been previously speculated.
According to a report from Insider Gaming, Activision will apparently skip next year and instead concentrate on prolonging the lifespan of Modern Warfare 2. Although nothing has been confirmed, there are rumours that this DLC may bring a number of iconic maps to the game as part of a “map pack.”
If this is the case, Modern Warfare 2 might have new maps like Wasteland, Terminal, Favela, and others—likely with improved aesthetics. The premium DLC decision would undoubtedly be a wise one.
Despite the debut of both Black Ops 5 and Call of Duty Vanguard, the previous incarnation of Modern Warfare, which was published in 2019, has continued to enjoy tremendous popularity.
It’s also important to keep in mind that Activision reportedly won’t make a choice for 12 to 18 months. Of course, the potential acquisition of Activision by Microsoft and the company’s subsequent decisions will be a significant additional element.
Hope asserts that Treyarch will continue to operate under the assumption of two years until a decision is reached. Recent beta testing for Modern Warfare 2 was the most well-attended in the history of the series. Fans praised the game, which features the return of the gunsmith and several adored weapons.
Even though it hasn’t even released, the upcoming Warzone Mobile has experienced tremendous success. It has surpassed 15 million pre-registrations on Google Play more quickly than any other mobile game produced by Activision, Blizzard, and King.
On October 28, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
