The Indian women’s team thrashed the Sri Lankan women’s team by a huge margin of 41 runs in the Asia Cup. The team gave an all-round performance that helped them with the victory. Jemimah Rodrigues scored 76 runs in 53 balls and Dayalan Hemalatha picked three wickets that helped in the victory.
India-W vs Sri Lanka-W: Match Highlights
Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur had played a fine game scoring 33 runs. India were sent to bat first but lost their openers Smriti Mandhana and Shefali Verma very soon. Those early wickets proved to be very advantageous for the Sri Lankan team. Jemimah Rodrigues came to the rescue and mustered 76 runs in 53 deliveries. She played to the best of her potential and was in her top form. Harmanpreet Kaur provided a fine touch too and scored 33 runs. In the innings of Rodrigues, there were 11 fours and a six that pushed India’s score to 150/6.
All the bowlers gave their best. Sri Lanka had started the game well but fell flat in the middle of the second innings. Hathaapthuthu got dismissed for 26 and from then, there was no recovery.
The Sri Lankan batters didn’t have the best match against India as eight of the batters got dismissed in single-digit scores. By 109, all were out.
Hemalatha was the best bowler in the match picking three wickets and next on the list were Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar who picked two each.
On October 2, Pakistan Women are going to face Malayasian Women at 8:30 PM.
India’s next match is against Malaysia at 13:00 on October 3.
