Back in May 2022, Sony WH-1000XM5 wireless noise cancelling headphones had been launched in multiple markets including the US and the UK. Now, Sony is gearing up to launch the new headphones in India ahead of the festive season.
Sony is teasing the launch of a new headphone product in India on Amazon ahead of the Amazon Great Indian Festival Sale, which is all set to start on September 23rd. The newest model in the 1000XM series comes with better and improved active noise cancellation (ANC), a new design, longer battery life, a 30mm audio driver setup, and much more.

Sony WH-1000XM5 are lightweight, and come with newly-developed soft fit leather, as per Sony. The company says that the material used in the headphones puts less pressure on the ears. The headphones have a stepless slider, swivel and hanger, and silent joints. The headphones come with a 30mm driver unit that features a soft TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) edge to deliver enhanced noise cancelling.
There is a carbon fibre composite material and high rigidity dome to improve sound clarity. The headphones get Integrated Processor V1 along with HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN1 to control a total of eight microphones. There is Google’s Fast Pair feature and Swift Pair feature for Windows 11/Windows 10-powered machines. They can also be used in wired mode. The headphones can be paired with Sony 360 Spatial Sound Personalizer app for optimised output.
The headphones sport 30mm dynamic drivers and use Bluetooth 5.2 wireless connectivity. It has support for codecs like SBC, AAC, LDAC, A2DP, AVRCP, HFP-based DSEE, and more. The headphones have a battery life of up to 30 hours for music playback with ANC on and up to 40 hours with ANC off.
The headphones might be a part of the Amazon Great Indian Festival Sale that is coming up and Sony might launch them on 23rd September in the country. It will come in black and white colourways. Globally, the headphones are priced at $399.99, which is roughly Rs.31,6500.
