Lewis Hamilton has responded to questions about whether he would be interested in partnering up with Jim Ratcliffe to take over Manchester United. Britain’s richest man was linked with a bid for the Red Devils after fans protested for the Glazers to leave during the summer transfer window.

However, the Glazers still own United and continue to face protests from fans to give up their position. The seven-time F1 Champion, alongside Serena Williams and Martin Broughton bid for Chelsea when they were up for sale. However, the West London side is now owned by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital due to their winning bid.

“It’s the first time I’ve heard of it, so I haven’t had time to catch up with Jim since I was in Namibia, which I need to do because he goes to Namibia quite often,” Lewis Hamilton said.

🚨 Lewis Hamilton asked about Sir Jim Ratcliffe: “I haven’t had a call from him asking if I want to be involved in that (United bid) just yet. But I do want to get more and more involved in teams because I really do believe in black ownership, there is a lack of it in sports.” ✅

“Jim’s part boss but a partner – I’d say we’re more partners because we’re in this together, and I hope in future to do something with Jim and build with him.”

“I don’t know where that will be or what that will be, so I can’t really say.”

He however said that he is actively looking to be more involved in sports teams, in an effort to improve representation at the elite level.

“I do want to get more and more involved in teams because I really do believe in black ownership.”

“There is a lack of it in sports. And black equity, again, there is a real lack of that.”
