Ajax could leave Antony out of their starting line-up for the match against Sparta Rotterdam this Sunday. The player has been pushing for the club to negotiate a transfer with Manchester United, since he is keen on the transfer.
However, the Eredivisie champions are not willing to sell the winger this late into the window. They have always maintained that the player is not for sale, and finding a replacement this late will be a very challenging task for the Dutch side.
Antony could be left out of Ajax team for this weekend
Manchester United are not giving up on the transfer just yet, and have made another offer to Ajax for the player. Their most recent offer has also been rejected, but United are optimistic that a breakthrough will be achieved eventually.
The skillful winger has been linked with a move to Old Trafford all summer. He was at Ajax’s training camp today, but did not train with the team. As a result, it is likely that he will miss games until his future is sorted out.
Cody Gakpo of PSV Eindhoven is an alternative that Manchester United could look at. It will be significantly easier to sign the player as well, and United could turn to the youngster if their last attempt to sign Antony does not go through.
