Bournemouth are set to sign Barcelona’s second-choice goalkeeper Neto in the coming days. The Cherries are keen to add a new player between the sticks as competition for Mark Travers.
The club’s second choice goalkeeper, Will Dennis, has a lack of match experience at the top level. As a result, Neto would be able to provide the needed competition to play himself and raise the levels of the other goalkeepers at the club.
Neto to join Bournemouth in the coming days
The 33-year-old is set to complete his medical for the transfer in the next few days to complete the formalities. However, the official statement for the move could be delayed, according to Fabrizio Romano.
With experience at Juventus, Valencia and Fiorentina, the goalkeeper has been able to build a steady reputation for himself. But, he was second-choice behind Marc Andre ter Stegen. Barcelona wanted to let him go earlier, but struggled to find suitors. Now, he is finally on his way out as the club try to trim their wage bill.
Clement Lenglet, Oscar Mingueza and Trincao have already left the club this summer. And Neto will soon join the list. Bournemouth will have their fourth signing of the summer with the arrival of the Spaniard, as they look to stay up on the top flight.
