Memphis Depay’s lawyers are trying to terminate his contract with Barcelona in hopes of an exit this summer. There are several clubs interested in signing him, but they are not willing to pay a €20 million fee for the Dutchman.
Juventus are exploring a loan deal with the option to buy. Tottenham, Lyon, Newcastle United and PSG are all looking to sign the player as well, but are put off by the asking price.
Memphis Depay looking to terminate Barcelona contract
The player joined Barcelona last summer as a free agent from Lyon, and has a contract until 2023. According to Fabrizio Romano, the forward will leave the club in case he finds a suitable next destination.
Given that the World Cup is coming up later this year, Memphis Depay will be looking to make it to the national team. For that, he will have to get regular playing time, which he won’t get at Barcelona due to their new signings.
As a result, a move away would help him earn more playing time to achieve his ambitions. Juventus are looking at a versatile forward that can play alongside or in place of Dusan Vlahovic, and Depay fits the profile quite well. However, due to their financial constraints, a move as a free agent would be easier to pull off.
