Juventus and Bayern Munich have reached an agreement for the transfer of Matthijs De Ligt. The 22-year-old will be making the move to Bavaria for €80 million plus add-ons. A verbal agreement has been reached between the two clubs, and once the paperworks have been completed, the move will be made official.
The Dutchman is right now one of the most expensive signings of the summer alongside Aurelien Tchouameni, who joined Real Madrid from Monaco.
Matthijs De Ligt to join Bayern Munich
Personal terms were never an issue between the player and Bayern Munich. He has agreed to a contract for five years until 2027, and will be one of their first choice central defenders for the coming season.
Chelsea were also in the race for the Dutchman, but he preferred a move to Bayern instead. As a result, the German giants have completed negotiations very quickly for their top target in defense.
Juventus, on the other hand, will have to look for a suitable replacement. They were prioritising Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli. But, Chelsea have finally signed the Senegal captain after years of speculation. With the loss of Giorgio Chiellini, and Matthijs De Ligt now, they must turn to the market for a suitable replacement.
Torino centre-back Gleison Bremer and Villarreal’s Pau Torres are two of the names on the list for Juventus. Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes has also been linked as a possible option for the Bianconeri, although they aren’t pushing to sign anyone just yet.
