Indian women’s football is having a season of highs and lows. Soumya Guguloth and Jyoti Chauhan have been given invites to try out for Croatia’s best club, Dinamo Zagreb.
The two attended a Women in Sports meet held at CCFC in Kolkata between June 6-11. There, Dinamo Zagreb’s representative and assistant coach Mia Medvedosvki spotted the two and invited them to try out for the club. She also noted that herself and the scouts were quite surprised by the talent that they found in these parts of the world, including Australia.
Indian women’s football: Guguloth and Jyoti earn Dinamo Zagreb trials
The two Indian women will get to train with the first team and play friendlies in pre-season with them. Their travels to Croatia will take place in early August. If they are signed, Guguloth and Jyoti will be the first Asians, as well as Indians to be signed by Dinamo Zagreb.
The pair are quite excited about the opportunity, and have noted that they will be giving their 100% for the trials. The club is restricted to signing only three foreign players for the season.
They represented Gokulam Kerala this past season in the IWL, as they marched to the league title win. After Dangmei Grace signing for FC Najaf and Manisha Kalyan signing with Apollon Ladies of Cyprus, the Gokulam Kerala players could become the next Indian women’s footballers to make it in Europe.
