Chelsea are closing in on a move for Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli. Thomas Tuchel is the man that wants the Senegalese defender in the team, and talks have begun between the two clubs already.
The West London side are expected to reach an agreement on a €40 million transfer fee with Napoli. The player will be signing a three-year contract to join his Senegal teammate Edouard Mendy at Stamford Bridge, with an agreement on personal terms very close as well.
Kalidou Koulibaly confirms move to Chelsea on the right track
The 31-year-old has himself confirmed that a move to the Blues is on the right track. Moreover, Mendy has also hinted at familiar reinforcements arriving to help the club.
Kalidou Koulibaly has been linked with Chelsea for several years now. But with one year remaining on his current contract, it seems likely that Napoli will sell him. Especially considering that he has rejected the new deal that they offered him.
Even though they have stated that Koulibaly is untouchable and is not for sale, they must consider the €40 million offer they are getting for the player. It is a price that they might not be getting from other suitors, especially Juventus, and could confirm the transfer very soon.
The Senegal international will bring leadership and a towering physical presence to the backline, which would perfectly replace Antonio Rudiger.
Chelsea are also considering a move for Bayern’s Serge Gnabry, who also has one year left on his deal. The former Arsenal man is now the top attacking option, given that Raphinha is set to join Barcelona.
