Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has denied the rumours linking Cristiano Ronaldo with a switch to the German giants.
Manchester United have failed to qualify for the Champions League next season, and will be playing in the Europa League next season. As a result, arguably the biggest player of all-time in the Champions League will not be playing the competition. This has fuelled rumours about a potential exit for the Portuguese to return to the top tier of European football.
Cristiano Ronaldo to Bayern rumours not true
With Robert Lewandowski also set to leave the club, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner would have been the natural replacement. However, it seems like he will be staying at Manchester United despite the absence of Champions League football.
Cristiano Ronaldo has welcomed new head coach Erik Ten Hag, and has been positive about fighting the challenge together. Hence, there are little chances of him leaving. But, one can never rule things out in the transfer market.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is a top player with an outstanding career. However, stories on potential deal with Bayern are not true”, Salihamidzic said. “These rumours have no truth.”
Barcelona are yet to launch an official bid for Lewandowski, but are confident in their aspirations to sign him. Salihamidzic has stated that he doesn’t care about Barcelona’s offer, especially since nothing has arrived yet. And that he expects Lewandowski to see out the final year of his contract with Bayern Munich.
