Jehan Daruvala, an exceptional Indian driver, is slated to test an F1 vehicle this week, giving him a big boost in his career. McLaren has offered Daruvala the chance to test their MCL35M vehicle at England’s historic Silverstone track on the 21st and 22nd of June 2022.
McLaren said in a social media post that Indian F2 driver Jehan Daruvala will be given a chance to test previous cars in the Testing Previous Car Program.
F1: Jehan Daruvala, an Indian racer, is due to test for McLaren at Silverstone
“As part of our Testing Previous Car (TPC) programme, @DaruvalaJehan will test the MCL35M at Silverstone on 21 June and 22 June. Enjoy your first drive in an F1 car, Jehan! 👊🇮🇳”
The 23-year-old driver is ecstatic to get his hands behind the wheel of an F1 car for the first time. Daruvala is grateful for his maiden F1 vehicle opportunity and has chosen to thank his Red Bull junior squad and McLaren.
He said, “Super excited and grateful for the opportunity to have my first experience in a Formula 1 car testing with @McLarenF1 this week!😀 A big thank you to the Red Bull Junior Team, my family, my support team, @MumbaiFalcons , McLaren and to everyone who’s supported me along the way!”
Jehan Daruvala presently races in the Formula 2 Championship for Prema Racing, a junior Red Bull team. Daruvala is in third place in the championships after scoring 83 points after six races.
The Indian racer was recognised as a Force India trainee and has excelled in the F2 Championships. Desperate for a shot in Formula One, he may be in luck in the coming years. McLaren has had a rocky relationship with Daniel Ricciardo since the Australian driver suffered in the F1 2022 season, and the team will undoubtedly keep an eye out for an opportunity to give the Indian driver a shot on the big stage.
