Karim Benzema has equalled Real Madrid legend Raul’s tally of 323 goals for the club by scoring a first half header in their 6-0 demolition of Levante.
The Frenchman has led the side to their 35th La Liga title, and is set to finish as the top scorer in the league as well. He has been in unstoppable form this season, and equalling Raul’s record is yet another reason why 21/22 is the best season in his career.
Only Cristiano Ronaldo has scored more goals for the club, with 450 to his name. And one more goal for Benzema would place him as the second-highest goalscorer in the history of the club – enough to call him a club legend.
While he has been underrated throughout his career, he is finally getting the praise that he deserves now. Especially since the departure of Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos, as he has taken over the leadership role in the team as well.
Vinicius Jr scores maiden hat-trick for Real Madrid
“The coach asked me if I wanted to stay on, and I did for the chance to get a hat-trick,” said Vinicius.
“It’s my first hat-trick and the team-mates have helped me so much and I’m just very, very happy.”
The Brazilian has had a remarkable breakthrough season with Real Madrid this year. He has scored 17 goals in La Liga, and has also provided 10 assists, among the best returns for a winger of his age across Europe.
