In 2022, CSK handed the captaincy from MS Dhoni to Ravindra Jadeja. However, the all-rounder couldn’t live up to the expectations and CSK are in the ninth place on the points table. Now, Dhoni will be back as the skipper with all the little hope that the fans have from the team.
Pros of MS Dhoni being back as the skipper of CSK
- Jadeja’s performance as a skipper is horrible. CSK could win only two matches in this IPL edition. Under Dhoni’s captaincy, CSK lifted the Cup 4 times. He has a better experience in captaincy than Jadeja, so his guidance for the team will be very helpful.
- CSK is at the 9th position in the Points Table. The team can qualify for the playoffs if they win all the matches. The Management has more trust in Dhoni and hopefully, he’ll handle the situation much better.
- Jadeja’s personal form has declined too, he piled up 112 runs in 12 matches at an average of 22.40 and scalped 5 wickets. In this case, the franchise owners don’t desire to risk the destiny of the team. With Dhoni being back at what he does the best, CSK can rise up in the points table, if the batting and bowling go well.
- Now Ravindra Jadeja can give all his attention to the game and focus on his form that brings good results.
Cons of MS Dhoni being back as the skipper of CSK
- CSK has had a poor start to the 15th edition of the league and even if Dhoni is back at the captaincy, there’s still no guarantee about CSK’s performance.
- Dhoni’s joining CSK as the skipper in the mid-session so the entire formation and structure of the team is going to transform. There’s a possibility of disagreements in the CSK camp.
- A lot of people are going to question his form and his ability to perform due to his age. If CSK produces positive results, these opinions will fade away but if they fail to perform, a lot of eyebrows will be raised.
