Real Madrid have won La Liga for the 35th time in their history, with a 4-0 win against Espanyol at home. Heading into the game, Los Blancos only needed one point to confirm the 21/22 league title for themselves.

But rather impressively, they came away with all three despite having a heavily rotated squad. Carlo Ancelotti decided to rest his most important players ahead of the huge Champions League clash in mid-week against Manchester City.

Despite Karim Benzema, Eder Militao, Toni Kroos and Vinicius Jr not starting the game, Madrid had a very impressive outing on the pitch.

Carlo Ancelotti has now won the league title in all five of Europe’s top leagues – a first for the legendary manager. Moreover, Real Madrid captain Marcelo is now the most decorated player in the history of the club. He has now won 24 trophies with the club, one more than Paco Gento.

Having rested the key players in his side, Real Madrid will now turn their attention to the Champions League. They will be hopeful of pulling off yet another comeback at the Santiago Bernabeu and earning a chance to win their 14th Champions League title.
