Dell recently updated its Precision and Latitude laptop lines with Intel’s latest CPUs, but it now appears that the Austin-based PC maker will be the first to release a mobile workstation with one of Intel’s new Arch Alchemist GPUs.
Customers could order the Precision 5470 with either inbuilt Intel Iris Xe graphics or an Nvidia RTX A1000 GPU when the product was originally released. Customers will now be able to equip the Precision 5470 with Intel’s new Arc Alchemist A370M Pro mobile GPU, according to a listing on Dell’s Indian website.
The Precision 5470 is an entry-level workstation that is meant to provide business users with great computing capability in a smaller package with stability, longevity, and good after-sales support. The Precision 5470 is, in reality, not only the world’s most powerful mobile workstation but also the world’s smallest and thinnest.
Dell created a new Thermal Management System for this machine
They had to create a new thermal management system that fits inside the limitations of the machine without sacrificing RAM or Thunderbolt ports due to all of this power under the hood. According to render on its website, the PC maker built separate cooling systems for both its CPU and GPU to help cool the Precision 5470 even more.
The Precision 5470 with Arc A370M Pro is already on the market, but the price is still unknown. Dell India has yet to offer any more Precision xx70 systems with Intel AlderLake-HX or Arc PRO, leading us to suspect that the 5470 with updated specs was advertised prematurely, before Intel’s official launch. Interestingly, Intel has verified that the workstation Arc GPUs will not be available until the third quarter of this year; however, it is unclear whether this assertion relates solely to desktop GPUs.
