ECB to renew their deal with SKY-SPORTS at $3 billion? Credits- Sky Sports

Apart from BCCI, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will renew their broadcast deal will SKY-SPORTS and will get loads of money from the deal. BCCI is expecting $7 billion plus deal from IPL Media Rights Tender. ECB, on the other hand is renewing its deal worth $3 billion plus with UK pay-TV broadcaster Sky Sports.

What is ECB’s new deal with Sky Sports about?

  • The current agreement between ECB & SKY ends in 2024
  • Both the parties are now prepared to seal 10 year extension for the rights.
  • The deal was signed in 2017, its value was US$289 million a year. 
  • The deal enables Sky broadcast first class county and home international matches.
  • The value of the 10 year deal is all set to cross USD 3 billion.
  • This will let ECB Rights the 3rd highest revenue generation property in the world of Cricket.

ECB’s Sky Sports deal

Sky Sports will share the rights to some matches with BBC. The public service broadcaster has live rights to four international Twenty20 matches (two men’s and two women’s) and ten matches from the ECB’s new short-form franchise tournament The Hundred, including the finals.
