Chelsea 1-4 Brentford: Eriksen scores first goal for Brentford in Stamford Bridge humiliation

Brentford humiliated Chelsea at Stamford Bridge with a 4-1 win against the Club World Cup winners. Christian Eriksen scored his first goal since returning to the Premier League with Brentford against his old rivals, owing to his past with Tottenham.

The Bees had to turn things around after going 1-0 down, and managed to do so remarkably well. Chelsea were not their usual selves, and things just didn’t seem to click for them as they put in their worst performance of the season yet.

Chelsea’s poor showing punished by Thomas Frank’s men

Antonio Rudiger opened the scoring early in the second half, after a boring first 45 minutes. The centre-back netted a goal of the season contender, which was cancelled out only 100 seconds later.

Christian Eriksen would get his goal at the end of a brilliantly worked counter attack against the Blues, following a corner kick. Vitaly Janelt got his second goal against the home side, after breaking clear. Kai Havertz thought he had pulled one back for his side after a free kick, but his goal was ruled out since it hit his hand. And at last, Yoane Wissa made it 4-1 to pile up on their misery.

Chelsea will need to be careful until the end of the season, or else they will be caught up in yet another scramble for the top four. Their next game will see them face off against Real Madrid midweek in the Champions League. Brentford, on the other hand, will be hopeful of securing Premier League football for next season on the back of the outrageous win today.
