I Am Zlatan is a new movie that is based on the early life struggle of the football legend named Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s life will show us the life from adversities to stardom. He is an active player of the club named AC Milan, the movie portrays the story of a child who has a troubled childhood growing up in the Swedish capital of Malmo to becoming a footballing legend with having received many awards in the sport.

About Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a 40-year-old football player, he is also known for his brave, swagger attitude along with his aggressive nature that has made him completely different from others who are basically humble in nature. In 1999 Zlatan Ibrahimovic has started his career at Malmo made the path for him to play for the biggest teams like Ajax Amsterdam, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester United. Still, now he is playing great and giving his best as he currently plies for his series A outfit AC Milan.

I Am Zlatan: About the film

The movie I Am Zlatan tells us the story of an underdog, it was premiered on Friday i.e. on 18th March 2022 on the silver screen. It is based on an autobiographical book of the same name. The movie is directed by Jens Sjogren, he has told to AFP how he wanted to share more about Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s early days as a young kid.

The director Jens Sjogren has also revealed how he found himself when he has read the first chapters of the book and soon he started relating with Zlatan, He said, “When I read the first chapters of the book I thought of my own childhood”. He further added that the movie is not going to be only for those who have followed Zlatan’s football career but it also mainly focus on the young Zlatan’s life.

The 45-year-old director has that “Even though Zlatan had a rough childhood at times we have all been children and struggled with different things”.

It is important for the audiences to watch the film from Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s perspective as a kid, said by the movie’s director. He also told that he felt important to tell the story from the child’s perspective.

He said, “What’s he’s experiencing, we get to experience, but when there are things he doesn’t hear or doesn’t understand then we as spectators shouldn’t understand that either”.

Plot

The movie I am Zlatan starts with Zlatan Ibrahimovic showing the age of 12 and it also shows the struggle of his schools. It also highlights how he has left his mother and father before moving on to his first year as a professional player at Malmo and Ajax. The movie also shows how Zlatan Ibrahimovic struggled a lot to become a renowned footballer today.

In Sweden, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a huge figure in Sweden and has truly become the biggest star country. Although in Malmo his popularity is still questioned. After his statue was held up just a few months back at his former club Malmo, the multiple fans vandalized it out of anger after Ibrahimovic has announced that he was buying a stake in a Stockholm-based club named Hammarby. Actually, they are Malmo’s rival and this is the reason why the fans are angry with the 40-year-old striker. The fans saw that act as a betrayal and spray painted the statue and knocked over several parts.
