AMD is planning new CPUs for Data-Centre, Consumer and Workstation segments

AMD plans to release brand new CPUs from its three product lines this month, including Ryzen, Threadripper PRO, and EPYC. The information originates from Videocardz sources, which claim that AMD will launch CPUs in each segment in March. Data centre EPYC, consumer Ryzen, and workstation Threadripper CPUs will be released this month on various dates. We’ll find out soon enough, as the month’s first launch is scheduled for next week.

AMD’s Threadripper 5000 and Threadripper PRO 5000 CPUs have been repeatedly delayed. Still, it now appears that the Zen 3 powered ‘Chagall’ CPU family for workstations will finally be available to OEMs on March 8, 2022.

The CPUs will be targeted at the high-end workstation market, with up to 64 cores and 128 threads and compatibility with SP3 socket systems. The lineup was also expected to be launching in March 2022, as stated here, so it appears that this will be the case, and we will finally get to see the new Threadripper in action shortly!

AMD

Next up is the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, which is expected to ship on the 14th or 21st of March. Greymon55 previously stated that the CPU has been sent and could be available by the end of the month. The reviewer embargo may be lifted on March 14th, while the official retail launch will be on March 22nd. The Ryzen 7 5800X3D will undoubtedly is the only 3D V-Cache chip, and it will arrive close to the Zen 4 Ryzen CPUs, which are also slated to arrive in the next quarters.

However, the 5800X3D has a great chance of becoming an excellent mainstream solution for several gamers, as upgrading only requires you to replace your existing CPU rather than investing in an entirely new platform. We know how expensive DDR5 and new motherboards can be at launch, and with Zen 4 targeting the premium segment-first, it appears that most gamers will call it a day and likely get the Ryzen 7 5800X3D and wait for Zen 4.

AMD

Finally, AMD EPYC Milan-X CPUs are slated to hit the retail market on March 21st, the same day as the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. Because the EPYC Milan-X CPUs and the Ryzen 7 5800X3D both use 3D V-Cache, it makes sense for them to be released on the same day. For the time being, they are just rumours, but they sound believable, and we’ll know for sure in a few days.
