ATK Mohun Bagan were held to a 1-1 draw by Odisha FC, and they had to settle for one point, shared between the two teams. Here are the three key talking points from the game.
No goals for 80 minutes
Redeem Tlang opened the scoring for Odisha FC only five minutes into the game, but their lead would not last long. A penalty at the other end of the pitch was converted by Joni Kauko to level things up only eight minutes into the game.
While both Odisha and ATK Mohun Bagan had chances to find the lead again, they were unable to do so due to a lack of clinically. And as a result, the game ended in a draw when it could’ve ended up as a win for either team.
Javi Hernandez misses penalty
The Odisha FC talisman stepped up to the spot to give his side the lead for the second time in the night. But, Amrinder Singh guessed the right way and saved his effort from going in. As a result, Odisha were denied a brilliant chance to take the lead.
An effort off the crossbar in the final stages of the game also prevented them from finding the back of the net.
ATK Mohun Bagan miss big chance
The Mariners had the chance to keep the pressure on Hyderabad FC and potentially displace them from the top spot if they won. But, they were unable to find a way to make a difference in the scoreline. Even if they win their game in hand, they will be a point behind Hyderabad FC in the table.
