NorthEast United mounted a strong comeback in the second half of their game against Bengaluru FC to win 2-1 after going behind initially. Here are the three key talking points from the game.

Poor finishing too costly for Bengaluru FC

There were a number of chances for both teams, but there were more clear cut chances in favour of the losing team. They were unable to take them during their game, and it ultimately proved to be too costly for them as they were stunned by a late comeback from the Highlanders.

Cleiton Silva scored the only goal for Bengaluru after poaching a corner, and it wasn’t enough to get them the win.

Two goals in six minutes

Deshorn Brown returned to goalscoring ways with a powerful header, equalising for NorthEast United. His goal would be followed by the match winner only six minutes later, with Laldanmawia Ralte tapping in an effort saved by opposing goalkeeper Lara Sharma. And ultimately, the bottom placed team got the better of the favourites heading into the fixture.

End of the road for Bengaluru FC?

This was a must-win fixture for Bengaluru FC, and they were surprised by the bottom-placed team in the division. As a result, their hopes of finishing in the top four of the table have taken a hit. And unless one of the teams above slip up in their final games, it seems unlikely that BFC will be able to make amends.
