Thomas Tuchel has reportedly asked Chelsea to sign Eder Militao from Real Madrid. The centre-back has three-and-a-half years left on his deal, but Chelsea are seemingly going to try to sign him in the summer.
He was signed by Los Blancos in 2019 for €41 million, making the move from Porto. After not being able to make a big impact in his first few seasons, he is now one of the first defenders on the team sheet alongside David Alaba.
Eder Militao attracting interest from Chelsea
The 24-year-old is an important player for Madrid now, having played remarkably well this season. The board is expected to open contract extension talks with him soon, but they have plenty of time left to try and do so.
Chelsea might end up without three key centre-backs in the summer – with Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen all out of contract in June. As a result, they will be needing reinforcements in the position.
And signing one of the best centre-backs in La Liga could help Chelsea maintain the quality of defense that they have shown since the arrival of the German coach.
Thomas Tuchel’s side have been in the market for Sevilla defender Joules Kounde as well, but have failed to strike up a deal with him as of yet. The Blues are now being linked with another defender from La Liga, and it remains to be seen which one makes the move to Stamford Bridge.
