Hyderabad FC thrashed NorthEast United 5-0 in the ISL to rise back to the top of the table. Here are the three talking points from a dominant display from the league leaders.
Bart Ogbeche is now ISL’s top goalscorer of all-time
The Nigerian forward scored a brace against NorthEast United, the first goal of which came in the 3rd minute. The player struck again at the hour mark to make it 3-0 for Hyderabad FC following a half-time header from Akash Mishra.
As a result, Ogbeche was rightfully named the Hero of the Match. He also leads the race for the Golden Boot, with 14 goals from 13 games, six goals clear of Igor Angulo in second place. Ogbeche has now surpassed Ferran Corominas and Sunil Chhetri as ISL’s all-time top goalscorer.
10-1 on aggregate this season
Hyderabad FC were clear winners last time the two sides met as well, winning 5-1. Things were no different this time around either. The Nizams were in control of the game from the get-go, and never really let up.
NorthEast United thought they had a consolation goal in the latter stages of the game, but it was ruled out for offside. As a result, HFC managed to keep a clean sheet this time around.
Hyderabad FC at the top while NorthEast slump in second last
With 14 games played, Hyderabad have 26 points. On the other hand, NorthEast United have earned 10 points from 15 games this season. Things have not worked out for them at all this season, despite some decent results.
Hyderabad FC on the other hand, have an advantage heading into the final six games of the game to potentially win the title for the first time ever. However, their direct competitors have games in hand on them which could influence the standings a lot.
