Call of Duty: Warzone 2 will purely be a next-gen traditional sequel in the franchise

According to a fresh rumor published yesterday, PlayStation players can still purchase the next three Call of Duty titles, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Treyarch’s upcoming Black Ops game, and Call of Duty: Warzone 2.

The previous two were well-known or assumed to be in production, but Warzone 2 surprised many. Successful battle royale games frequently evolve through updates — sequels aren’t usually a consideration. There are no Fortnite 2 or PUBG 2 games available.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is, according to dependable Call of Duty source Tom Henderson, exactly what it sounds like – a full-on traditional sequel. The next game is reportedly only being developed for PC and next/current-gen consoles, so your progress, weapons, cosmetics, and other items from the first game are unlikely to be carried over.

Warzone 2 is literally that… Warzone 2.

Current gen and PC only… No past weapon integrations etc.

A completely new game for the better hardware.

To say the least, the response to the prospect of a Warzone 2 has been divided. Without a doubt, Warzone has some difficulties right now, and a whole new game that doesn’t rely on out-of-date last-gen consoles may provide a better experience. The classic battle royale business mode, on the other hand, states that your game investments will continue. The crowd will not be divided, and no one will be left behind. Of course, Activision has time to change its mind about all of this (Warzone 2 isn’t set to release until 2023).

Activision Blizzard has been sued by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH), alleging rampant gender discrimination and sexual harassment at the Call of Duty publisher. More information on the developing story can be found here.
